Let you speak first and make corrections every second without interrupting. Secondly try to keep the conversation going without putting all the blame on you. Basically they are not there to teach but to facilitate conversation and answer moible number data your questions if needed. Yet people have an understandable tendency to want to teach because they believe they are helping you. If your partner does this it is very important to tell them early on otherwise it will become a problem. Try to find a nice way to say I don't need you to teach me I'm just here to practice my language. Take on Higher Level Challenges At higher levels you may face the opposite problem. Conversations are effortless. You can chat for hours without any challenge. This may indeed be a waste of time and requires some intervention. to step up and start scaffolding what you are saying. Ask them can you give me a more natural way to express it? How else can I say it? Then go back and repeat the conversation after reading some language. A bit unnatural at first but a tried and tested development strategy.
